What Medical Aesthetics Clinics Actually Need From Their Website

Most aesthetics clinic websites lose leads before the first consultation. Here's what separates sites that convert from ones that just look nice.

What Medical Aesthetics Clinics Actually Need From Their Website

I've reviewed a lot of aesthetics clinic websites. The majority of them have the same problem: they look polished but don't do any real work.

A homepage with a hero image, a list of treatments, a contact form, and a generic "book a consultation" button. It's not wrong - it's just not enough. And in a sector where trust is the only currency that matters, "not enough" costs you patients.

The credibility gap

Medical aesthetics sits in an awkward position online. It's a healthcare decision dressed as a lifestyle purchase. The people searching for Botox, filler, or skin treatments are doing so with a mixture of excitement and anxiety - they want results, but they're handing their face to a stranger.

Most clinic websites don't acknowledge that tension at all. They just show the before-and-afters and hope that's enough.

The clinics converting at the highest rates do something different. They treat their website as a credibility machine - not a brochure.

What credibility actually looks like online

It's not the same as looking expensive. You can have a beautifully designed site that still feels untrustworthy, because the signals aren't there.

Here's what patients are actually checking before they enquire:

Practitioner qualifications - not buried on an about page, but visible near every treatment page. Who is doing this procedure? What are their credentials?

Specific results, not stock photos - real patients, real outcomes. If you're using the same stock photography as twenty other clinics in your city, you've already lost the comparison.

Transparent pricing - this is a bigger conversion lever than most clinic owners realise. Hiding prices increases bounce rate. If someone asks Google "how much does lip filler cost in Birmingham", they want an answer. Give them a range and explain why.

A clear process - what happens after they book? What does the consultation involve? Removing the unknowns removes the friction.

The multi-audience problem

Many medical aesthetics businesses aren't just serving patients. They're also working with other clinics - as product distributors, training providers, or wholesale suppliers. This is exactly the situation NexaSkinMed was in when they approached us.

Building one website that speaks to both audiences equally rarely works. Clinics looking for a professional stockist account have completely different information needs than someone researching whether to try skin boosters.

The answer is architecture: separate pathways for each audience, from the navigation through to the calls to action, while keeping the brand consistent throughout.

Speed and mobile still matter - more than ever

Aesthetics searches are overwhelmingly local and mobile. "Lip filler near me", "best skin clinic Birmingham", "medical grade facials Solihull" - these are searches happening on phones, often in the evening, with a decision being made within minutes.

If your site doesn't load in under two seconds on a 4G connection, a meaningful percentage of those people are gone before they've seen anything. Google's Core Web Vitals are now a direct ranking factor, which means a slow site also loses you positions in the results that send people there in the first place.

What to do about it

Start with your highest-traffic treatment pages. For each one, ask:

  • Does the page tell someone why this clinic is the right choice for this treatment?
  • Is there a qualified practitioner's name and credentials on the page?
  • Is there a clear, low-friction way to enquire?
  • Does it load quickly on a phone?

If the answer to any of those is no, you've found your starting point.

At Octelis, we build subscription websites for professional services businesses - including medical aesthetics clinics - that are designed to convert, not just exist. If your current site isn't generating consistent enquiries, get in touch and we'll audit it for free.
